By now, you're familiar with Clearance Delivery in general with regard to non-Major facilities. Now, it's time to put those skills to use at a more complex airport. LaGuardia is smack in between Kennedy and Newark. Everything you do at LaGuardia affects Newark and Kennedy and vice versa. Coordination is a must. Things are much more regimented. You'll have Climbs to learn and assign that are based on type, exit direction, and configuration at Kennedy. If you're up to the challenge, follow the steps below.
1) Completed the training on the VATUSA S1/non-Major Local Control Page.
1) Log into your Controller Panel and take the LaGuardia Clearance Delivery SOP Class using the Training Classes link.
2) Read and study the Clearance Delivery section of the LaGuardia Facility SOP.
3) Go to "Test Center" and click on "Clearance Delivery - LGA" and do the practice clearances. It is 20 questions. Make sure you write the clearances out in word form, i.e 10 should be one zero or ten. You must receive an 80 percent or better to pass. The test is graded manually, so please allow for 48 hours for the results.
4) After passing the clearances the FIRST time you will be certified to work LGA Delivery. If you do not pass, you will be either re-directed to re-take the test and/or meet with an instructor or mentor before receiving the certification.
Spend some time online, ask questions, and the Training Staff will observe you and help you learn Delivery like you never have before. Once that is complete, we'll look for you to advance. In order to work the Ground position at LaGuardia Airport, you must:
1) Pass the ZNY Level 1 Basic ATC Test over voice with a NY instructor
2) Pass the ZNY Level 1 NY SOP Test over voice with a NY instructor
3) Pass the LaGuardia Level 1 ATC Test over voice with a NY instructor
Once you have passed the required tests, you'll begin your training to work LaGuardia Ground Control.
