Welcome to the TRACON. Everything gets a lot different from this point on.
So, you're in the radar room now. Well, now everything changes quite a bit. The aircraft are moving faster, going all over the World and not just to a few runways or gates, and now you gotta get them farther apart to help create separation thousands of miles away. It is also at this point where you'll start to pick up additional territory. You'll start to learn operations at Newark and Kennedy and how they fit into Departure at LaGuardia. Eventually, if you like, you'll be running them all. Oh, don't forget, if no one is on at DEL-TWR, you gotta do that too.

To accomplish this task, follow the steps below
1) Login to your Controller Panel and take the appropriate TRACON Training classes that are available to you (Levels 4 & 5).
2) Read and study the general TRACON and Departure sections of the LaGuardia Facility SOP.
3) Learn the procedures contained in the Letters of Agreement applicable to LaGuardia Departure.
4) Work Departure at LaGuardia after receiving approval to do so (a simulated Sweatbox session may be required before approval to work the position solo)
Spend some time online, ask questions, and the Training Staff will observe you and help you learn Departure at LaGuardia and other Facilities if you so desire. Once that is complete, we'll look for you to advance. In order to work the Approach position in the LaGuardia TRACON, you must:
1) Complete a practical examination of Departure skills (can be a mix of online and Sweatbox)
2) Pass the ZNY Level 4 Basic ATC Test over voice with a NY instructor
3) Pass the ZNY Level 4 NY SOP Test over voice with a NY instructor
Once you have passed the required tests, you'll begin your training to step up and work as a LaGuardia Approach Controller
