Dedicated in 1927 by Charles Lindbergh, Philadelphia Municipal Airport began operations as a commercial airport after its use as a training field by the Pennsylvania National Guard starting in 1925. Located in the city of Philadelphia on the Delaware River, Philly is New York ARTCC's BUSIEST airport. It gets the most arrivals and departures than EWR, JFK, or LGA. A pretty amazing feat when you look at the configuration and close proximity of the runways.

Tower and Ground will be busy taxiing departures across the arrival runways and the TRACON requires attention as flights are handed off to New York and Washington Centers as well as New York TRACON ATC. Arrivals into the Washington, DC area are just over Philly's airspace by 1000' most of the time. Being sandwiched between New York and DC, Philly throws a good bit of traffic into the area making the Boston to DC area the busiest on the network.

In order to take and utilize ANY training on this page at Philadelphia or its satellite airports, you must have completed the training on the VATUSA S1 (DEL/GND) Training Page
