So, you got Clearance Delivery down at Philly - well done - you've only just begun. Philly has a set of three East/West runways and a crossing North/South runway. Sounds like a lot - and it is - because all of them are used based on type and direction of flight. To complicate matters, the primary departure runway is Runway 27L and departures have to cross the arrival runway. You'll need to coordinate with Tower to make sure nothing we don't want to happen happens. Aside from just taxiing planes, you're going to have to learn how Ground plays a vital role in traffic operations hundreds of miles away.

BEFORE you carry out any training on this page, you must have:

1) Completed the training on the VATUSA S1/non-Major Local Control Page.
2) Completed the training on the Philadelphia Clearance Delivery Page

At this level you will learn Ground operations at Philadelphia Airport.

To accomplish this task, follow the steps below

1) Log into your Controller Panel and take the Philly Ground SOP Class using the Training Classes link.

2) Read and study the Ground section of the Philadelphia Facility SOP.

3) Work Ground control at Philadelphia.

Earning Promotion to Level 3: Tower Controller

Spend some time online, ask questions, and the Training Staff will observe you and help you learn Ground like you never have before. Once that is complete, we'll look for you to advance. In order to work the Tower position at Philly, you must:

1) Pass the ZNY Level 2 Basic ATC Test over voice with a NY instructor
2) Pass the ZNY Level 2 NY SOP Test over voice with a NY instructor
3) Pass the Philadelphia Ground Test over voice with a NY instructor

Once you have passed the required tests, you'll begin your training to work Philadelphia Tower Control.
