OK, you're good on Delivery and Ground operations. Now comes Tower. This is, by far, one of the toughest levels you'll have to get through. Make sure you practice and ask questions. You're going to be managing the entire set of airport operations and you'll need to coordinate with Delivery, Ground, Departure, and Approach regarding runways in use, taxi routes and hold points, ATIS information, release procedures and a host of other things. Don't forget all the VFR traffic making it more difficult too. Study hard and work hard...this is a tough one.
1) Completed the training on the VATUSA S1/non-Major Local Control Page.
2) Completed the training on the Philadelphia Ground Page
To accomplish this task, follow the steps below
1) Log into your Controller Panel and refresh yourself on ALL Level 3 Classes.
2) Read and study the Tower section of the Philadelphia Facility SOP.
3) Work Tower at Philly after receiving approval to do so (a simulated Sweatbox session may be required before approval to work the position solo)
Spend some time online, ask questions, and the Training Staff will observe you and help you learn Tower like you never have before. Once that is complete, we'll look for you to advance. In order to work the Departure position at Philadelphia Airport, you must:
1) Complete a practical examination of Tower skills (can be a mix of online and Sweatbox)
2) Pass the ZNY Level 3 Basic ATC Test over voice with a NY instructor
3) Pass the ZNY Level 3 NY SOP Test over voice with a NY instructor
4) Pass the Philly Tower Test over voice with a NY instructor
Once you have passed the required tests, you'll begin your training to step up and work as a TRACON Controller
